4based for Creators: The Questions Everyone Actually Asks
4based is the most expensive platform in this set and the one German agencies most often keep anyway. The reason is paperwork, and once you see it, the 30% starts to make sense.
What does 4based actually take?
Around 30% — reported, and clearly higher than the 20% that OnlyFans, Fansly and Maloum charge. On commission alone, this is the most expensive platform here.
That is a real difference, not a rounding error. On €10,000 of sales it is €1,000 more than the same month on OnlyFans.
So why do agencies keep it?
Because of the invoicing. 4based issues German invoices in EUR with VAT shown correctly.
If you are filing in Germany, that is the difference between clean books and reconstructing VAT by hand across a dozen statements. For an agency, the accounting time saved can genuinely outweigh the extra ten points of commission. For a solo creator with a simple tax position, it usually does not.
That is the whole trade, stated plainly — decide on it rather than on the headline rate.
Why does the fan pay more than the price I typed?
Because there are three numbers and the interface only shows you one. You type an ex-VAT price. The fan is charged 21% more. You keep 70% of what you typed.
Confirmed in the platform's own price panel. The unlock chip in the conversation shows 5.00 — which is neither what the fan pays nor what you keep.
The unlock button in the conversation shows 5.00 — neither the fan's price nor your take. If you have been quoting that number to yourself as revenue, it is wrong in both directions.
Read the net figure on the Dashboard instead. The same trap across every platform.
When do I get paid?
4based does not publish a payout minimum or schedule that we have been able to confirm, so we are not going to invent one. The payout page lists receipt number, status, date and amount, so your own history is the reliable answer.
If you have the real figures, we would rather correct this page than guess on it.
How do I post something for free?
Leave the price empty. There is no separate free toggle, and people hunt for one.
What are the limits on voice notes?
Tighter than anywhere else here:
- Record only. There is no audio file attach at all.
- The recorder stops at two minutes.
So anything you prepared elsewhere cannot be brought in, and a long audio message is not possible. If voice is central to how you sell, Fanvue and Brezzels handle it properly.
Why can't I tip a fan?
Because you need credits on your account first. Creator-to-fan tipping is credit-funded rather than balance-funded, which is unusual and catches people out.
What do the statistics give me?
Better than the commission would suggest:
- Gross and net per sale
- Unusually granular revenue categories — including cam, mail and gift, broken out separately
- A per-media sales breakdown, so you can see which specific piece sold
- Filtering by booking-date range
The per-media view is genuinely useful and rare. What is missing is a separate tips or sales page — the dashboard is the per-sale surface.
The unlock button does not show what the fan pays
It shows the ex-VAT figure you typed. Enter $5 and the chip says 5.00, but the fan is charged $6.05 and you receive $3.50. Three different numbers for one transaction, and only one of them is on screen.
Leave the price empty to post for free
There is no free-versus-paid toggle on a feed post. An empty price field is what makes it free, and the helper text under the field is the only thing that tells you.
The voice recorder stops at two minutes
A hard cap, shown in the recorder as a countdown.
You cannot attach an audio file, only record one
The upload modal accepts images and video. If you have audio prepared elsewhere, there is no way to bring it in.
You need credits before you can tip a fan
The tip control opens a top-up dialog if the wallet is empty.

Is it worth running?
If you are a German-filing agency, the invoicing probably pays for the commission. If you are a solo creator comparing headline rates, 4based is the expensive option and you should know that going in.
4based is one of the platforms HoneyChatting connects, with your account staying in your control — the operator works in a streamed browser session rather than holding your credentials.
